Perfectly Protected in the Sun

Global Radiation

When it hits the atmosphere, radiation is scattered and absorbed, which considerably weakens the impact. The overall amount of radiation that reaches the earth is termed “global radiation”, and is compiled as follows :

44% infrared radiation

“warmth”, penetrates deep into organisms

52% visible radiation

“light”, photosynthesis

4% UV radiation

“Invisible”, first impact such as tanning, sun burn

The positive effect of the right amount of sun:
- Our Body makes Vitamin D, which plays an important role in the construction of muscles and bones
- It is beneficial to our emotional well being, blood circulation, nerves and heart
- It improves our performance
- It benefits our immune system and therefore
- Increases our resistance to disease
- It promotes healing
- It stimulates pigmentation
- I tans the skin
- It builds up the skin’s own sun defense

The negative effect of too much sun:
- Overload of heart, blood circulation and nerves
- Leads to tiredness
- Damages the eyes
- Changes blood composition
- Weakens the immune system
- Cause sunburn (UVB-induced), from redness to irritable cell damage with temperature and shivering. Repeated severe sunburn increases the risk of skin damage, especially in children
- Premature light-induced aging (elastosis) – cf. UVA rays penetrate deep into the dermis and damage the collagen and elastic fibers
- Photo-allergic and photo-toxic reactions
- Could lead to serious skin damage

Approximately  90% of the UV radiation that reaches the Earth :
- Penetrates deep into the dermis of your skin, damaging elastic and collagen fibers
- Can trigger photo-toxic and allergic reactions in conjunction with substances to be found in blood
Indirect cell damage (DNA) through free radicals
- UVA radiation also weakens the immune system
- Directly triggers pigmentation

You should know that :

UVA – Standardized measuring method in the EU

UVB=SPF – In addition to the sun protection factor the corresponding protection class is also specified

    UV filters

Chemical UV-A and UV-B filters protect the skin against premature aging (A=age) and damage caused by sunburn (B=burn) to enable you to enjoy a relaxed day in the sun, on holiday or as part of a summer anti-aging package.

When choosing the sun protection product it is crucial to take into consideration the following factors :
1. Skin Type
2. Skin Condition :
- not used to the sun
- used to the sun
3. Insensitivity of the rays :
- geographic location
- reflection
- altitude
- Angle of radiation
4. Time you wish to spend in the sun
